Naming this baby girl

Baby #4 is coming sooner than later and now comes the fun part, naming this baby girl. The good thing is that it's much easier to come up with names for girls than it is for boys. But that can also be a bad thing. Which one do we choose? There were plenty of good names out there but few have that pizazz. That something that sets it apart. And as I've previously mentioned, the names should also follow a set of rules. But rules are meant to be broken.

I've always liked the idea of using a boy name for a girl, especially in our case with three boys already. Now everyone in the family will have a boy's name! Yes, there are guys out there named Lynn too (like Lynn Swann). A lot of names were thrown out there but one stuck...

Elliot

Now let's revisit those rules.

Absolute Rules:
Rule #1 - No duplicates. I don't know a single Elliot.

Rule #2 - The starting letter of the name cannot duplicate any of the previous kids.
No E's in this family.

Rule #3 - Universal spelling of a name. This one might be problematic. Elliot can also be spelled Elliott, Eliot or Eliott (yuck). Eh, this baby will just have to deal with it just like Lynn and I with our names.

Preferences (not absolute):
Rule #4 - Two syllable name. Rules are meant to be broken. (See rule #3)

Rule #5 - Nickname ability. We can call her Elle or Ellie, both of which are definitely girl names.

Rule #6 - Not a top 10/popular baby name. Nowhere close.

Rule #7 - Common theme. Sure, they're all boy names.

Rule #8 - No bad association. As stated previously, I don't personally know any Elliot but my inspiration came from Elliot Reid, the quirky physician from Scrubs (and Elliot Alderson from Mr. Robot).

Love the name, love the nicknames. I only know one elliot (boy) but I love boy names for girls as well and this one is a good one!

Love it! I've always liked the name, especially because of E.T. (spelled Elliott in the movie). And I'm a George Eliot fan (female writer).

I was waiting for the Green Bay vs. Seattle game to be over before I wrote to you regarding Baby Elliot.....on the last play, Green Bay's player named "ELLIOTT" stripped the ball from Seattle! HA! Isn't that strange....the player's name is "ELLIOT"?!?!?

Anyway, it is super adorable! Just curious, do your kids have Vietnamese names?

I saw that football play you're talking about and thought, man there are a lot more Elliots in the world than I thought, albeit a last name.

Yeah the boys have Vietnamese middle names. Jacob is An (last minute name), Andrew is Loc (Lynn's dad), and Tyson is Hai (my dad).

Do you have any suggestion for Baby Elliot's middle name??
