I ❤ NY (New York City, NY)

I do love New York. The people were surprisingly really nice. I don't remember specifics but during the trip I just thought, wow everyone here is so nice (unlike Boston). Actually, I got quite a few compliments... on my sleeve tattoo, on my shirt (Anti Pickleball Pickleball Club) and one guy on the subway went out of his way to tap me and said, "You look fly as hell." 😎

We spent five days in New York City, just Lynn and I. The main reason was to catch the US Open, a bucket list item. I actually bought two pairs of tickets (round 2 and round 3) but sold a pair of (round 2) tickets for triple the price so we essentially went to the US Open for free. And we made the most of it. We stayed at the tennis center for nearly 12 hours but had to call it a night (after Sabalenka won her first set) and there was still more tennis to be played (Taylor Fritz was playing after that match).

Jacob moves to College Station

Jacob (second year at TAMU) moved into an apartment with Lynn's cousin San (last year at TAMU).

Crawfish festival

Every year there's a big crawfish festival held at Vietnamese Martyr Catholic Church (aka Các Thánh Tử Đạo) but I've never gone in the years prior. Once I was old enough to make my own choices, I vowed to never come back.

I grew up going to that church but only have bad memories of that place. I dreaded every Saturday because that meant I'd be at Bible school. The school was so poorly ran. Classes were full of wannabe gangstas who showed no respect for the teachers or nuns. It was out of control. And the classes were taught in Vietnamese, which I barely understood. I was stuck in the second grade level for at least five years straight. It was miserable.

Houston Half Marathon IV

We did it again. We completed our fourth Houston Half Marathon and we'll keep going until we can't. 

But geez, I'm surprised I came out relatively unscathed given the amount of training I did this year... which was essentially nothing.

The longest training run I did was only 4 miles. 

The most mileage I ran in one week was only 8 miles.

I didn't run once in 2 weeks before the actual race.

My training gets worse every year.

I will do better next year.
