Soccer season is here again but I'm not looking forward to it. There's just too much going on right now. The house is a hot mess due to current remodeling jobs. The bathrooms are unfinished since I fired our incompetent contractor. Boxes of tiles and supplies are everywhere for the kitchen job. On top of that, we're getting the house ready for the pending arrival of baby #4, so there are boxes of baby clothes, blankets, bottles, etc. stacked along the walls. Do you realize how much crap there is for one tiny human being? Stuff is everywhere! The smart move would've been to skip playing this season. What were we thinking?
1 vs 3. And that 1 is winning. |
With the new season comes new teams. This is Jacob's 4th year playing and he was assigned to Team Rust (U-10). This league has such unique names for colors, like Team Hunter and Team Cobalt. Why not just call them green and blue, respectively? Anyway, his team does not look good at all. There's only one kid that really hustles and has some skill while the rest seem either apathetic or too timid. Even though this league is recreational, it still sucks to lose. It especially sucks to lose in a blowout. It's going to be a long season.
After the game, Jacob is hot and sweaty with a flushed face but is still all smiles. |
Andrew starts his 3rd year of playing and he was assigned to Team Red (U8). Now that's more like it, red and black (my favorite color combo). But for his game, I would have loved to have crappy players. Any player for that matter. They played the game without any substitutions. One kid was out of town. Another kid had to leave early. And one kid never showed up. The game started around 11:30 a.m. and it was hot as hell. The sun was brutal. The kids were exhausted. Andrew was done by halftime. He was not a happy camper. But at least he didn't break down or cry. It's going to be a long season.
Andrew, on the other hand, is beyond exhausted. He's so done. |
