Welcome, Luna and Apollo.

Their story began on April 14, 2026 when their mother left them and their siblings after birth. Lynn's aunt found them abandoned and brought them in. Out of the bunch, these two were the only ones to survive. But she doesn't have the time to care for them so we happily adopted them.

So on father's day weekend, we added two new additions to the household.

When deciding on names, Tyson suggested sun and moon. That's when I suggested Luna (goddess of the moon) and Apollo (god of the sun).

Luna is the dark-colored, older sister cat.

Apollo is the orange/white, younger brother cat.

Shohei Ohtani, baseball's unicorn (great pitcher and hitter), was coming to town. He is my absolute favorite baseball player and I have to go see him whenever I can. Our last time was four years ago when he was with the Angels.

I bought tickets in right field for that (slim) chance of catching an Ohtani home run ball but unfortunately, he wasn't in the batting lineup. He was the starting pitcher though, and had been lights out lately. He was recently named the NL Pitcher of the Month.

Elliot made it to Shark Day.

Shark Day is an annual competition held at the high school where the elementary schools in the area compete in various track and field events.

For each school, only two students were selected for each event. They have to earn their spots by being the top two of their respective grade, gender, and event.

Elliot was representing her school for the fourth grade girls softball throw.

She was the first (and only) person in our family to make it to Shark Day.

Elliot's first volleyball game. She was so nervous/anxious the night before.

Within a few minutes of arriving to the game, we saw Andrew lying on the field. 😨

We officially have our first (and probably only) football player of the family, Andrew. He's on the school's 8th grade football team. Granted, he's only a kicker but a football player nonetheless.

My main concern was him getting hurt. First of all, he's not a football player. Second, he's pretty small  when compared to the other players. But being that he's a kicker, it's not likely that he'll have any contact... or so I thought... 😧

Lynn officially joined the 40 club. To celebrate, I invited her family over for dinner and cooked some of my best food. On the weekend we took a quick getaway to Austin. Actually, we stayed at a house in the middle of a 200+ acre working ranch outside of the city. Cattle, horses, and chickens... livin' that Texas cowboy life.

Every week Jacob and a few of his classmates stay back after class for the school's rocket club. The kids were recently featured on Houston Life (Channel 2) where they summarized it best:
Rodeo Palms Junior High students are learning how to build rockets with specific objectives. This year, the models must carry an egg 800 feet in the air, stay airborne for 40 seconds and land without cracking the egg. The after-school club meets on Saturdays at NASA to test and launch their rockets.

When it rains in Houston, there's always a chance of local flooding. So when a hurricane or tropical storm comes, flooding is guaranteed. It began on Wednesday when Tropical Storm Imelda made landfall. The school district canceled all classes so everyone got to stay home. The day was pretty uneventful, raining on and off, nothing too heavy. On Thursday, schools were open and we're back to our regular schedule... or so we all thought.

Memorial Day weekend began with what else, soccer. Andrew's team did the 5v5 Memorial Day Classic (which they won last year) but came up short based on the (whack) scoring system. They went undefeated. Scored the most points. Had the biggest point differential. But yet, finished third. 🤷

Sunday was spent with the in-laws. More fun in the sun. And Monday was just grill and chill time at home with our family. It was a much needed break from the fun but exhausting weekend. 🌞

I did what I set out to do. I took a one second video everyday for a whole year, starting on my 37th birthday. Well, that's not entirely true. I had to recruit Lynn for this project since it's too hard to remember to take a video every single day. And sometimes, you just want to enjoy the moment and not be that person who whips out their phone to take a video and/or picture. But I must say, it's neat to look back at an entire year of our lives in only a 9 minute video.

Last Saturday I competed in my second BJJ tournament (Austin Open). The weeks leading up to the event, I was iffy whether I was doing it or not... constantly flip-flopping. I told myself that I was going to train as if I was going to compete but in reality, my training is never as hard/intense/focused until I actually register to compete... which I didn’t do until right before the deadline (one week before the event). At one point, I even made a “final” decision to not go since Prof. Marcelo (our head instructor) wasn’t here for the bulk of the month to help us prep and wouldn’t be back to coach us at the tournament. And I aggravated my elbow injury so that’s a wrap... or so I thought.

My big girl. My little fireball. My baby Elliot. She is now two years old. Hands down, she's the wildest and craziest of the bunch. "Oh my God" and "Look at what your daughter is doing" are frequently said around her. It only becomes your daughter if she's done something bad, which is quite often. Admittedly she gets away with a lot. Either because she's our last child or because she's a girl but probably a combination of both.
