Anniversary getaway (Chicago, IL)

It hasn't been a year yet but we made another trip back to Chicago. This time it was to celebrate (early) our anniversary. And the one place I had to visit was The Max. This was only a temporary pop-up diner so I had to go before it was gone. If you don't know The Max or Saved by the Bell, then you missed out on an awesome 90's TV show. Oh, and Elliot went along for the ride.

Someone slept through the entire dinner.

All we really did on this trip (and the majority of our trips) was eat. Essentially I ate all of my favorite foods (pizza, burgers, donuts, and coffee) over and over. Besides, it was a tad bit cold to be doing much of anything else.

Yikes.

There was a lot of walking in freezing temps.

And a lot of refueling.

Look at those nerds taking pictures of their food.

List of restaurants/foods (for my sake):
Osteria di Eataly - tagliolini (so, so buttery egg pasta) and polpette (big, salty meatballs)
Burger Bar - big burgers (juicy), fried pickles (ok) and beer
Doughnut Vault - old fashion buttermilk donut (good)
Beatrix - hot chocolate espresso (good), kouign amann (yes)
Lou Malnati’s - deep dish pizza (ok)
Mindy's Hot Chocolate - hot chocolate (rich) and maple donut (ok)
Revival Cafe Bar - latte (nothing special)
Union Squared - Detroit-style pan pizza (that crispy, fried crust)
The Budlong - Nashville hot chicken (best chicken sandwich ever!) "Best Eats Of The Trip" (acronym BEOTT)
Stan's donuts - buttermilk donut (eh)
La Pizza & La Pasta - Margherita pizza (good ol' Neapolitan pizza)
Shake Shack - burger, fries, and milk shake (awesome)

My new year's resolution of eating "clean" came to an abrupt stop.

And every time we would ride the "L", Elliot looked like a sad doll.
