This was our 10th road trip to Colorado. We've made this long drive ten times. I told the family that this would be the last trip to Colorado, that it's time to explore other destinations. Time will tell if I hold true to my word.
This trip was longer than usual, nearly two weeks. I wanted to give everyone time to get acclimated to the high altitude (Silverthorne elevation >9,000 ft) before we did any outdoor activities.
Dropped off the car at the auto shop on our first day. The brakes didn't respond well driving into town... |
It was a rainy day anyhow so we just stayed in. |
Plenty of board games were played. |
Dillon Farmer's Market. |
The boys completed their first 14er, Mt. Evans (14,265 ft) |
Eating everything (tacos, pizza, chicken) at Bluebird Market. |
Evening walk around Silverthorne. |
Family hike to Rainbow Lake. |
Rainbow Lake (Frisco, CO) |
Hanging outside at Rainbow Park (Silverthorne, CO) |
Elliot was the first Junior Naturalist! (Dillon Ranger Station) |
I took Lynn out on her first 14er hike. |
