The Minimalists

Last night I dragged Lynn along for another book signing/talk. We went to see The Minimalists. I just recently discovered them while reading my many news feeds during a lunch break. (Pulse and Feedly are awesome). Hmmm, minimalism... that sounds like an interesting concept. Recently I've been complaining about how we're running out of storage space and how nice it would be to have a bigger house. But maybe that was the wrong solution. Maybe we just have too much crap. Unnecessary crap.

I haven't had a chance to read their new book yet, Everything That Remains, but I'm sure it will give some insight on another way to view life and how we live. For sure, the kids have way too much stuff and I know I could easily unload all that junk in the closet. As for Lynn... no comment. Hah! (There's a reason she came with me.)

I still needed to pee really bad.
When we got there, I immediately headed to the restroom which was located in the back of the bookstore and next thing you know, there they were hiding in the back. So I got a couple of hugs (they don't shake hands) and pictures with them, all while waiting to pee. Thanks to my small bladder for that encounter.

Damn I'm so short!
Regarding minimalism, I haven't really made up my mind either way but I'll definitely keep an open mind. They had a couple quotes that night which I really liked.

You can't change the people around you but you can change the people that surround you.
I think that's the quote or something to that effect. You can't change people (their values and beliefs) but you can change who you hang around with (those with similar values).

Love people. Use things.
And not the other way around. There's definitely people out there who use people and love things.

You can see them too. They're doing a 100 city tour and your city is coming up.
