Storms and the end of school

This past week, we got some nasty weather which caused so many disruptions.

First, I had a work trip to Amarillo on the same day the storm front came through Texas. My original flight was set to depart at 4:30 p.m. but it got delayed multiple times and pushed back so far that I didn't arrive in Amarillo until after 3 a.m. 😵

That's way past my bedtime.

That same storm front eventually made it down to Houston and caused damage to Elliot's school. The roof leaks were so bad, the district decided to close the school, abruptly ending the year for those students (3 days early).

Well, that was an anticlimactic end to the school year.

Elliot would also miss her last day of school class party, that one last hoorah with her friends and classmates. Her awards ceremony was also canceled... but they were able to hold the ceremony at the nearby junior high.

Elliot received the citizenship award for her class.

Along with her UIL competition medal.

And with the elementary school closed, Andrew and his senior class were not able to walk through the halls one last time (in their cap and gown), a tradition that had started since the high school opened. But they were able to walk through a nearby elementary school with some of their former teachers showing up.

Andrew with his third grade teacher (as seen here giving him the citizenship award).
