Hot chicken getaway (Nashville, TN)

Instead of a long trip to celebrate our 15 year anniversary, we plan on taking multiple short getaways  (without any kids) throughout the month.

We can finally travel further and longer since our kids are older, one of which can now play the role of chauffer. And we had additional support with my mom playing school chauffer for the two little ones and Lynn's sister Julie took them in for a weekend sleepover.

So for our first getaway, we were off to Nashville.

Why Nashville? Because it's the home of hot chicken. Because it's the bachelorette capital of the world. But mainly because of hot chicken.

Hatch Show Print.

Most of our time was spent here...

Assembly Food Hall.

So many options of moonshine at Ole Smoky Distillery.

In Nashville, it's just called hot chicken. 😅

Honky Tonk Highway on Saturday night.

Smashville. Who knew Nashville had a hockey team?

Getting fuel for our Sunday morning walk.

Random cool building during our walk (Customs House). See the rainbow?

The Parthenon, a full-scale replica of the original in Greece.

It's so big...

Another angle.

Sitting at a bench in Centennial Park...

But a bench for Taylor Swift.

Getting some Goo Goo Clusters "Nashville's official candy".

And Lynn finally got a cookie at Milk & Honey.

Some of the food we ate, which was mostly hot chicken.

List of restaurants/foods (for my sake):
  • Elixr - the kopi sanger (espresso and condensed milk) was nothing like a Vietnamese coffee :(
  • Five Daughters Bakery - "100 layer" donut (basically a cronut) and regular yeast donut was good (and fat)
  • Prince's Hot Chicken - the originator of hot chicken - so underwhelming
  • Hattie B's - good hot chicken sandwich - but I'm not sure if it's worth an hour wait
  • Hattie Jane's Creamery - Lynn got ice cream (I was too full of chicken to eat any more)
  • Sweet Dots - Dalgona latte and brown sugar milk tea - both excellent
  • Red's Hot Chicken - another good hot chicken sandwich
  • Chilangos Tacos - birria tacos - good (but maybe because I was chickened-out)
  • Milk & Honey - hot chicken and waffles, biscuit, pop tart, cookie, coffee - it was all good
